It is our concern to provide students the highest possible quality of educational program and conducive academic atmosphere. For this reason, Department develops various activities to facilitate students to improve their capacity either through curricular or extracurricular activities. The programs are expected to have impacts on the overall improvement of graduate performance. Several activities can be described as follows:

Improving Technical Skill

The program is designed to increase the technical skill by enriching and intensifying practical classes, reduction of practical group sizes, applying standardized test and good laboratory practice, developing competence certification program and Integrated Practical Work. The availability of Food Industrial Teaching System (FITS) managed under Technology Business Office has facilitated students to increase their technical skill, in which students have opportunity to conduct research project, Integrated Practical Work, internship, industrial training and part-time workplace.

Improving Computer Skill

The compurer skill of students is improved by facilitating student accessibility to computer through training and course-integrated assignment using computer. The computer center is established to support the improvement of computer skill.

Improving Student Participation in Scientific Events

Department motivates students to participate in scientific activities in form of scientific competition and scientific meeting at the national/international level. Our students actively joint the programs and often received awards.

Improving English Proficiency

The program is designed to continously increase English proficiency of students by exposing English in lecturing (in form of course materials, transparancy, assignment or exams), international academic program, and extracurricular activities (in form of food chat program, English on air, national scientific paper competition, etc). English proficiency of students is monitored by TOEFL-like, which is obligatory for final year students.

Improving Student's Welfare and Counselling

The program is designed to support student financially in form of scholarship program. Department also develops "award" for excellence students. The scholarships and awards come from alumni and food industries (such as PT Heinz ABC, PT Fermenich, and PT Bogasari Flour Mills). Department welcomes alumni and food industries to joint this scholarship and student award programs.

Improving Success Skill through Extracurricular Activities

Our students are encouraged to have good success skill, such as communications skills, critical-thinking/problem-solving skills, professionalism skills, life-long learning skills, teamwork, mentoring, leadership, networking, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Besides through curricular activities, students have opportunity to increase their success skill through extracurricular activities. Various extracurricular activities have been developed thorugh Food Science and Technology Student Association (HIMITEPA). Improving Staff-Student-Alumni Interaction

Department is continously improve the relationship with alumni. Several programs are designed in form of studium generale by alumni, alumni reunion, and alumni mailing list.
