Abdul Muis Nasution Hall, FATETA-IPBThe Department of Food Science and Technology (formerly Department of Food Technology and Human Nutrition) - Bogor Agricultural University is one of the oldest and largest Departments of its kind in Indonesia. The Department has been founded since 1964 under the Faculty of Agricultural Technology and Engineering . The Department has a core competence in the area of food science and food technology, especially in the development of food chemistry, food microbiology, food process engineering, food analysis, food quality and safety.

The Department of Food Science and Technology offers educational programs: Diploma Program of Food Quality Assurance Supervisor, Undergraduate Program in Food Technology and Master and Doctorate Program in Food Science. Currently, we have approximately 450 undergraduate students and a hundred Master and Doctorate students studying in various areas of food science. We also offer Professional Master Program of Food Technology for food industry professionals and governmental officers. Our undergraduate and graduate students come from all provinces in Indonesia. More than 3,000 of our alumni have been working in various food-related sectors in country and abroad.

The Department is supported by highly dedicated and experienced academic staff. We have 54 academic staff coming from diverse backgrounds and covering a wide range of specialties. The Department has experts in the areas of food chemistry, food microbiology, food processing, food engineering, food safety, food analysis, flavor chemistry, biotechnology and bio-processing, food biochemistry and nutrition, and nutritional toxicology. Our academic staff involve actively in teaching and research programs covering a wide range of topics relevant to food science, technology and nutrition. Some of our academic staff are acknowledged by national and international authorities in areas as diverse as food processing, food security and safety, nutrition, food analysis and food law.
