Since February 2009, InterCAFE has been conducting research on Effects of Biofuels on Agricultural Development, Food Security, Poverty and the Environment in Indonesia funded by IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development). This research is aim to help Indonesian policy makers and other stakeholders put together a coherent set of policies on biofuel development based on a systematic and rigorous assessment of the effects of biofuel development on food security, poverty and the environment in the context of Indonesia’s political economy environment. This study is implemented in 2 years (will be ended in February 2011) and consist of field-based studies and quantitative modeling work to generate results and findings necessary to meet the objectives. In line with the project objectives, InterCAFE conducted training programs or capacity building for faculty members, researchers, NGO workers and government officials, on the application of CGE and InAPSiM models. Some series of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to obtain feedback and inputs or other qualitative information from the participants such as policy makers and key stakeholders have been conducted.
