ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF FOREST PRODUCT

Forest Higher Education in Indonesia commenced before the country’s Independence Day during the establishment of the Schools for Higher Agriculture in Bogor (Landbouwhogenschool). In the 1963, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) was established which The Faculty of Forestry as one of its faculty. Forest products studies have been started in the Department of Forest Products Technology, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (Institut Pertanian Bogor or IPB) since 1964. From that time, the name of the department has changed four times. Initially, it was the Department of Forest Products Exploitation and Utilization (1964-1968); then the Department of Forest Products (1969-1982); the Department of Forest Products Technology (1983-2003); and the Department of Forest Products (2004-now).

In line with the IPB’s curriculum program, since 1972 the Department of Forest Products changed its curriculum into a 4 year Undergraduate Program. Currently, the Department of Forest Products located in IPB Darmaga Campus Area conduct the Forest Products Technology study program which Major-Minor curriculum system. Since 1998, the Forest Products Technology study program in Faculty of Forestry IPB was accredited as an excellent study program (grade A) by National Accreditation Agency for the University which is evaluated each five years.
