EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES The Department of Forest Products located in the Faculty of Forestry IPB cluster area which is totally about 14.706 m2. The faculty’s facilities of classroom, faculty library, seminar and meeting room are used together for all departments in the faculty of forestry. Beside, the Department of Forest Products manages about 3,415 m2 including classroom, seminar room, laboratories, studio, department library, department office, academic staffs rooms, and others complementary rooms. The Department of Forest Products has a several laboratories involved in a four division, and affiliated with several institutions on faculty or university level supporting research and education. Division of Wood Quality Improvement comprise of laboratory of wood anatomy and identification, wood drying, wood deterioration and preservation, and wood machining. To improve quality, utilization and services of wood and wood products, this division conducts researches in the field of basic properties of wood, wood quality improvement, wood processing and wood machining. Division of Bio-Composite conducts researches in the field of forest products processing related to bio-composite i.e. plywood, laminated panel, particle board, fiber board, wood-cement board, wood polymer composite, including adhesive and gluing. Division of Design and Engineering of Wood conducts research related to building materials, wood mechanic, wood engineering and design, wood construction, building protection and conservation. Division of Forest Products Chemistry comprise of wood chemistry laboratory, pulp and paper laboratory, and non-wood forest products laboratory. The fields of researches in this division are chemical properties of wood and other non-wood products, pulping and bleaching technology, non-wood forest products processing, derivative products of wood components, and natural products and chemicals derived from wood components. Forest Products Teaching Centre is an interdivision or inter-laboratories facility which coordinates integrated research and services in the field of wood science and technology. This institution is focused to the applied sciences and technology related to the public services. Administration of this institution is carried out at the Department of Forest Products Office.
